TRANSPORTATION OF THE 4.9 M-HIGH SPECTACLE VALVE BODY
Recently, a client approached us with a difficult, in his opinion, project — to deliver a 4.9 m high spectacle valve body from St. Petersburg Container Terminal to the production workshop of the plant in St. Petersburg to carry out work on strengthening the frame and then to deliver the cargo to the customer in Cherepovets city.
The difficulty was as follows:
On the way to the destination, there was a large number of communications and overpasses at low altitude, which is why our client took a long time to decide on the method of the cargo transportation.
One of the options was a helicopter!
Our team and a coupling consisting of a Volvo FH 520 truck and a 4-axle Faymonville semi-trailer came to the rescue!
A special feature of this coupling is our universal trawl with a perimeter bed, the loading height of which for some categories of cargo is 0.2 meters. Due to this, the total height of the road train was 5.2 meters, which made it possible to easily and safely remove this cargo from the customer’s workshop, as well as to save on the cost of the crane and helicopter services!
Loading and unloading operations were carried out in several stages:
- Loading onto a trawl in the container terminal;
- Transshipment to the railway platform on the territory of the plant;
- Loading onto a trawl in the workshop for transportation to the customer plant in Cherepovets
For “AST Plus”, high does not mean difficult!
We have our own fleet, which has a hitch for transporting any cargo!
