A GEAR RING TRANSPORTATION STORY
In January, we transported a gear ring on a bed. The cargo arrived on a sea vessel from South Korea. The initial height of the entire structure was 4.97 m, and this complicated overland transportation. Its total height, together with the trawl, would be 5.47 m, while the reasonable height of passage under artificial structures would be 5.20 m.
We reduced the transport height and did not damage the cargo. How did we do it?
We reduced the height of the bed-truss!
OUR ENGINEERS HAVE CALCULATED EVERYTHING:
- The crane lifted the load from the bed
- Then the bed itself was lifted, too
- Then we used a grinder and a gas cutter to remove 0.30 m of it, while maintaining the structure rigidity.
- We put the cargo back to its original place.
As a result, the edge of the ring turned out to be 0.30 m below the level of the working platform of the semi-trailer, at the same height from the ground as the ground clearance of the semi-trailer, 0.20 m.
The final transport height was 5.17 m with the possibility to lower the semi-trailer by another 0.10 m.
This allowed us to complete the entire route without problems!
